The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply
joins the better payment practice Group
The Better Payment Practice Group (BPPG) has welcomed The Chartered
Institute of Purchasing And Supply (CIPS) as its latest member.
The Institute will be represented by Melinda Johnson, Head of Policy
& Representation.
Supported by the Small Business Service, the BPPG was set up in
1997 as a partnership between the public and private sectors to
campaign for a more positive payment culture in the UK. Melinda
joins representatives from other leading trade bodies and business
organisations.
Peter Rowe, Director General of the Institute of Credit Management
and member of the BPPG said: "We
are delighted to welcome Melinda to the Group. Purchasers have an
important role to play in agreeing the payment terms at the outset
of a contract and in ensuring that they are acceptable to, and can
be met by, the customer company. Prompt payment is good for the
reputation of the purchaser and good for the cashflow of the seller.
Melinda's involvement with the Group will provide valuable help
to buyers and sellers alike."
Melinda added: “I look forward
to working with the Better Payment Practice Group and hope that
by becoming involved with the Group, CIPS can help to promote good
payment practice amongst our members and the wider business community.”
