client not paying up!

hi,

i'm having a problem with a client, they have recruited someone through myself but so far have not paid. i have found it difficult to get them to answer my calls, respond to my emails - but they have now said they will pay today. the account has 28 day payment terms, the bill was issued on september 14th for around 2000 pounds.

i never - well, very rarely used to have payment problems but this year has been a nightmare.

i want to email them today to encourage them to pay today - is this ok or should i just sit back and wait for a non-payment then start through the processes... payment is now 3 weeks late.

You should have no problems emailing them today, keep it friendly and say something along the lines of:

"Hi XX

This is just a quick email to confirm you are paying invoice/s xxx today? Can you please confirm when payment made."

If nothing else it adds to the paperwork chain and if they don't pay you will have proof of the broken promises :)
