UK businesses are facing a growing disconnect.

GDP is rising — but so are insolvencies, unemployment and cost pressures.

• Strong growth may already be fading
• Energy costs continue to drive inflation risk
• Payment delays and insolvencies are rising

In uncertain conditions, cashflow control becomes critical.

CPA helps businesses protect revenue, recover overdue invoices and stay resilient when conditions turn.

This week we saw a business take a different approach to late payments — not extending terms, but shortening them.

Moving to twice-monthly payments and aiming for 15–30 day settlement.

It sounds simple, but it speaks volumes.

Late payment isn’t just a cashflow issue — it’s a culture issue.

And culture is a choice.

We wrote a short Friday Reflection on why this matters, and what more businesses could learn from it:

UK businesses are facing a tough start to the week.

Insolvencies are rising, recession risks are growing, and energy price volatility is back. At the same time, confidence among both consumers and finance leaders has fallen sharply.

For SMEs, this creates a challenging environment where cashflow management becomes critical.

Now is the time to:
• Review customer risk
• Monitor payment behaviour closely
• Act early on overdue accounts

CPA supports businesses with credit reporting, monitoring and recovery to help protect cashflow when it matters most.

UK businesses are facing a more uncertain environment.

Consumer confidence is falling, job losses are starting to appear and cost pressures remain high. At the same time, investment continues to flow into areas like AI, highlighting a growing divide across the economy.

For SMEs, the key risk is clear. Slower payments and tighter cashflow conditions are becoming more likely.

This is where strong credit management makes a real difference.

If your customers are taking longer to pay, or you want to reduce risk, CPA can help you stay in control.
